“Ooh, I love you so,

even when you lose your happy glow

‘coz I’ll love you forever”

The speakers of my laptop play the soft sounds of a guitar, some drums, a piano, and a synth. Sweet vocals with a dash of lyrical irony fill the air, and my head is taken for a spin.

I need sleep, but the coffee has kicked in a tad bit too late in the night for me. My heart is restless, and it finds solace in what once was.

What was once? It was this, it was that, it was them, it was… a lot. I found myself being a flat character in a round world, sitting on the same chair as I did years ago.

It was the pictures in my memory, the recordings inside my brain, the scenes that weren’t forgotten. It was being and feeling, it was alive.

It’s distant, yet I can touch it. It’s nowhere, but it’s beside me.

My heart was pinched a little tonight.
